Late 70's & early 80's was unanimously ruled by Amitabh Bachchan
over the box office. There were actors like Dharmendra, Rishi Kapoor and
few others who too had their share of hits, but nowhere in competition
to the superstar. The only actor who gave little bit serious amount of
competition was the jumping jack Jeetendra. Right from 1983 till 1985 he
has his dream run over the box office, which even gave jitters to the
ruling king at the box-office. All this started with surprise hit -
'Himmatwala', a film which Jeetendra signed only to get rid of his debts
incurred due to super flop of his home production - 'Deedar-E-Yaar'.
The original film was planned with Rekha in the lead role, but she
refused the film and recommended Southern star - Sridevi who had just
one release till that date in Hindi film. After the super success of
'Himmatwala', the people attached to this film {Jeetendra, Sridevi,
Kader Khan, Asrani, Shakti Kapoor, Bappi Lahiri, Kishore Kumar, Asha
Bhosle, etc} started churning out dozens of such type of south indian
remakes. Initially, they had few huge hits but later, due to monotony
and over dose of such films started to fade out. Kids from that
generation had feasted on such types of masala pot-boilers and still
enjoy the comical tracks by Kader Khan, fun loving songs by Kishore
Kumar, power packed dancing of Jeetendra and many more such stuffs
attached to such types of films. One such kid whom we all know as
Actor-Director Sajid Khan is diehard fan of such films, thus everyone
knew that he is the perfect person for remake of 'Himmatwala'. So let's
find out whether Sajid Khan will manage to enhance the level of his
favorite film 'Himmatwala' or might just end up like the way Ram Gopal
Verma did with his passion and over love for the classic 'Sholay' in
form of 'Ramgopal Verma Ki Aag'.
